With everything there is to keep up with in tech and the world at large, it’s easy to forget why many of us got into the field in the first place: the pure joy of making something interesting and different out of nothing. While the wonderland of creative expression that cropped up around sites like MySpace, GeoCities and NeoPets has given way to the walled gardens of social media behemoths, that is changing thanks to technologies like mixed reality and powerful new browser APIs, combined with distrust of social media monopolies and the growth of new communities built around creative sharing. Chazona Baum will help us take a look at how these new technologies are fueling a new surge in creative and cultural expression on the web, and how you can get started with creations of your own, even if you’re not a developer or you “don’t do front end.”
Chazona is a senior apprentice technologist at MAXX Potential. She tackles challenges using a variety of languages and technologies, from front end fixes to API creation and workflow automation. Chazona is a self-taught developer building on a decade of customer service experience, lending her to being passionate about self-directed education and advocating for expanded opportunities for those from non-traditional backgrounds.
